I reckon it’s about time for a cold one. Got any big plans for the weekend?
I think the most exciting thing we have planned is a trip to Costco. Otherwise, just chilling out. Y’all be safe!

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is playing at the local drive-in, which is mildly tempting. And headed to a cabin at Shakamak State Park Sunday afternoon, will be working from there most of the week.
Plus this manual Cherokee popped up on FB Marketplace yesterday, tempting to go check it out.

At work in the morning, mostly to get some steel for the various
Metro bits
& for the
Ignis sump guard.
Then picking up a mildly drunk ebay purchase in the afternoon. Out on the bike Sunday morning, with the rest of the day devoted to welding, grinding & swearing.

Going to finish touch up on rust spot at fender edge, which got halted because of thunderstorm after first coat of paint. Will also replace front brake pads, lube front end and u-joints, then see if I can get the truck inspected.
May mow the lawn, which hasn’t been done in 2 or 3 weeks because of the drought.

That’s no good. We had 30 days of rain in Hawaii one time, some streets were just rivers, good thing I had a lifted truck then. I hate the heat, real heat, it doesn’t get as hot as people think in Hawaii.

I’ve rented a remote Unabomber-style cabin for the next week, and starting Sunday, am going to spend the week relaxing and trying to smoke my way through a whole box of Creme de Jamaica Lonsdales.

There are a few areas of the lawn that have survived, but most of it is very crunchy when you walk on it. The neighbor from across the street remarked how crunchy his lawn is too, and he’s been watering his front lawn daily. We’re all on well water, and I’m not about to waste water on the lawn. I water the garden, some shrubs and flowers too.
Sad thing is, my lawn was looking amazing in the spring. Several neighbors complimented me on it, and now it is terrible. Some of it will not come back, some of it will. I may overseed again in the fall, weather permitting.

At the end of the day, it’s really dumb to try to keep grass alive in the summer. Especially in Texas.

I try to do this once a year, and I don’t have to quarantine for 2 weeks to go there and back, I’m doing it. Difference this year is I’m going to try to bring absolutely everything I need, so once I’m there, I don’t have to leave for anything until its time to go home. Spotty cell service and no Internet, too.
